The Danny Craige Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 to honor the legacy of
a man who touched the lives of thousands of young men and women over his 40-year
coaching career. From his days at Saint Martins, the Frankford Boys Club through
to St Bede's, and Germantown Academy, his name and legacy will always live on.
ELIGIBILITY: All 8th grade students from Saint Martin
of Tours and Saint Bede the Venerable for attendance in a Catholic High
School.
APPLICATION PROCESS: Each student is to complete the following:
1. Application, 2. Personal Reference, 3. Teacher Reference,
and 4. Essay. All forms are available from any 8th grade teacher as well as listed at the bottom of this page. Just click each form and print. All
completed application packages are to be returned to your teacher NO LATER than
March 14, 2011. Decisions will be made by the Board of Directors and all decisions are
final. Award recipients will be announced at the graduation ceremony.
KEY POINTS: Scholarship awards will be given to those students who most closely
embody the characteristics that Danny showed throughout his life. The Board will
be looking for students that have the following traits.
Family First Attitude: A Student who has a strong belief in the family as the center
of their lives.
Civic Involvement: A student who has given back to their community in some manner
via volunteer work, or the assistance of others in need.
Athletic involvement: A student who has participated in CYO programs or other organized
Athletic events, and has demonstrated the three fundamentals of Danny's coaching
philosophy: Love God - Love your Family - Love the Game.
Academic Achievement: A student who applies him/herself to the best of their ability
at all times in the classroom.
